In this talk, Dr. Nejsum will present how they have used molecular methods to explore Ascaris and Trichuris transmission among humans and pigs and to shed light into their phylogeny. Helminths immune-modulate their hosts to ensure survival and recent studies suggest that extracellular vesicles may be of importance. We are identifying and characterizing extracellular vesicles released from Ascaris, Trichuris and Oesophagostomum in order to determine their possible role(s) in parasite establishment and immune-modulation.
Dr. Nejsum is a visiting academic from Aarhus University, Denmark.
This seminar is free to attend, all welcome with no rsvp required.
