The Cohort Doctoral Studies Program

The Cohort Doctoral Studies Program was established in 2011 to support students to complete research higher degrees. There are currently 10 Cohort groups operating with a total of 105 students. Students in Cohort groups 1-9 attended block week activities in Cairns recently. These block weeks included a number of workshops that focussed on the more advanced research skills required, as well as a student conference, allowing students to practice their research presentation skills and a writing retreat to provide focused time for scholarly writing and the opportunity to receive feedback.

Cohort 10 commenced their induction program in early March on the Townsville campus. This new Cohort group includes 17 students working on diverse research projects such as epidemiological profiles of TB patients in the Torres Strait, neurorehabilitation using SMART Arm therapy, climate change and health in Cambodia, the role of police in disaster management, Indigenous maternal and child health and the effects of a Mediterranean diet on peripheral arterial disease.
