Distinguished Professor Alex Loukas

Distinguished Professor Alex Loukas commenced as Director of the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine (AITHM) on 1 December 2025. Alex previously served as Deputy Director of AITHM and has been a long-standing leader in tropical health and medical research at James Cook University. His research spans immunoparasitology, clinical trials, and biotech translation, including co-founding Macrobiome Therapeutics.
