Early dynamics of immune cells in pulmonary TB affect the disease outcome. Using experimental murine TB models we identified cross-regulation between innate myeloid cells and haemostasis effectors. Comprehensive characterization of early immune events and identification of molecular entities controlling progression of primary TB may promote development of novel interventions against this deadly infection.
Anca Dorhoi studied veterinary medicine at and obtained her doctoral degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca, Romania in 2004. She completed a postdoctoral training at the Dept. of Immunology (head SHE Kaufmann), Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology in Berlin, Germany and in 2015 became a Minerva Group Leader at same institute. Since 2017 she is Director of IfI at the FLI, Professor of Immunology at UG, Speaker of the Working Group Immunology of Infection of the German Society for Immunology. Her work focuses on innate immunity to bacterial pathogens, particularly to virulent mycobacteria causing tuberculosis.
