AITHM Seminar Series - "From genotype to phenotype: understanding the biological basis of fatigue states"

29 April 2016, 12:00pm - 29 April 2016, 1:00pm

Professor Andrew Lloyd

Date:  Friday 29 April, 2016

Time: 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Venue: Townsville 040-103 video linked to Cairns D003-063

This talk will describe studies characterising three poorly understood, complex illness phenotypes each featuring prominent fatigue and other symptoms, including the acute sickness response to infection, post-infective fatigue and post-cancer fatigue. Development of instruments to reliably describe the major elements of the illness complex (or endophenotypes), and studies seeking genetic associations with those endophenotypes and their biological correlates will be described.
