Bio: Associate Professor Abdullah Mamun has a strong background in life-course epidemiology and biostatistics. He is a NHMRC Fellow (Career Development Fellow Level 2) and recipient of a UQ Foundation Research Excellence Award. An approach that situates the individual risk factors and their interaction within a context that determines health outcomes has been the underlying basis of his research. He is one of the Principle Investigators of the Mater-University of Queensland Study of Pregnancy (MUSP, N~7000) multigenerational study that started in early 1980s. His main focus is to investigate early origins, progression and aetiology of cardiovascular risk factors including obesity, BP, diabetes, sleep problems, unhealthy lifestyle, and mental health problem within and across generations. His research shows that weight management and prevention of obesity and blood pressure should start as early as possible even before or during pregnancy.
